Presidential Shingles Price Per Square
Presidential Shingles Price Per Square
Presidential shingles price per square ranges between $632 and $1007 in annual average with installation on a standard slope roof surface utilizing WinterGuard underlayment and shingles from GAF, Owens Corning, Atlas, and CertainTeed without additional flashing.
We have not considered, in this average, any installation done in the winter and partial repairs due to ceiling damage. Only complete roof replacement costs, or roofing in newly built houses.
Keep in mind that if you use presidential shingles, you might like a superior flashing like copper flashing, and your costs could go up.
The best presidential shingles are CertainTeed Grand Manor and Landmark Pro. CertainTeed does not market them as presidential shingles, leaving that identification for their Presidential line. But really, Grand Manor (check colonial slate variant) and Landmark Pro (check red oak pigments) would be two excellent options.
We have not included Grand Manor shingles, as they are not marketed as “presidential”, while I personally think that they can also be considered in this category.
Also consider that we have only used the WinterGuard underlayment, so all costs are considered with this underlayment.
Brand | Shingle Product | Presidential Shingles Price per 100 sq. ft. |
---|---|---|
CertainTeed | Presidential Shake | $150 – $180 |
GAF | Timberline HDZ | $100 – $125 |
Owens Corning | Duration | $90 – $110 |
Atlas | Pinnacle Pristine | $85 – $105 |
Presidential shingles are a type of shingle, so we have considered products from different brands.
Presidential shingles are a type of luxury asphalt shingles known for their multi-layered, dimensional design, which mimics the aesthetic of traditional wood shakes or slate roofing.

Constructed from high-quality, heavyweight materials, these shingles typically feature complex textural surfaces and high-definition coloring, often enhanced by shadow lines for added depth.
Boasting superior performance characteristics, Presidential type shingles are generally Class A fire-rated, offer high wind resistance, and often include algae-resistant treatments.
The durability of these presdential shingles is underscored by extended warranties that frequently cover both material defects and labor.
Presidential shingles typically come in two distinct types: CertainTeed’s Landmark shingles and GAF’s Timberline shingles.
Both types have their own unique features and benefits, which are reflected in their respective prices.
CertainTeed’s Landmark shingles range from $115 to $125 per 100 square feet for the Landmark Pro series, while the higher-end Landmark Premium series can go as high as $155 per 100 square feet. These prices do not include additional materials or installation fees.
On the other hand, GAF’s Timberline shingles generally cost between $100 and $150 per 100 square feet, depending on the particular model and region.
Again, this pricing does not account for any additional materials, labor, or other fees associated with installation.

Presidential Shingles Price per Bundle
So now let’s break down the prices for presidential shingles.
Keep in mind that for a standard roof, you will need about three bundles per 100 square feet, so the price per square will be approximately three times the price per bundle.
In order to truly understand the value of presidential shingles, it’s helpful to compare them with other popular shingle products on the market.
Here’s a price comparison table to give you a better idea:
Brand | Shingle Product | Price per Square (100 sq. ft.) |
---|---|---|
CertainTeed | Presidential Shake | $150 – $180 |
GAF | Timberline HDZ | $100 – $125 |
Owens Corning | Duration | $90 – $110 |
Atlas | Pinnacle Pristine | $85 – $105 |
Price and Factors Affecting Cost
Price per Square
When looking at the cost of Presidential Shake shingles, the price can vary based on several factors. On average, the cost for a square of roof shingles (100 sq. ft) ranges from $173 to $411, depending on the materials used.
Material | Price per sq. ft |
---|---|
Asphalt Shingles | $4 – $8 |
Steel Shingles | $8 – $12.65 |
Wood Shingles | $8 – $14.30 |
Location and Roof Complexity
Your location plays a key role in determining the cost of your roofing project. Different areas have different labor costs, and climate conditions can also impact the price.
Additionally, the complexity of the roof, such as the slope of the roof, number of layers, and overall size, will also contribute to the final cost.
Materials and Installation
As with any construction project, the choice of material and the quality of installation will directly affect the cost of your Presidential Shake® shingle roof.
Presidential Shake® shingles come backed by a Lifetime, limited transferable warranty, which covers 100% of replacement and labor costs owing to manufacturing defects for 10 years.

CertainTeed Presidential Shingles Overview
Presidential shingles are a popular choice for homeowners seeking the look of wood shakes combined with the durability of asphalt.
The Presidential Shake shingles are designed with a unique sculpted tab, providing a distinct appearance reminiscent of classic wood shake roofs.
The shingles are also equipped with CertaSeal, a high-grade adhesive made from a proprietary blend of asphalts and polymers, ensuring protection against wind uplift, shingle blow-off, and moisture infiltration.
CertainTeed offers several options within the Presidential Shake line, including the Presidential Shake TL (Triple Laminate) and the Presidential Shake IR (Impact Resistant).
The Presidential Shake TL features triple-layer construction for added durability and weather resistance, while the Presidential Shake IR is designed to withstand impact from hail and other debris, making it an ideal choice for homeowners in storm-prone regions.

Here’s a comparison of the different Presidential Shake shingles:
CertainTeed Presidential | Weight/Square (approx.) | Dimensions (overall) | Shingles/Square | Weather Exposure |
---|---|---|---|---|
Presidential Shake | 355 lb. | 14 1/4″ x 40″ | 90 | 4″ |
Presidential Shake TL | 475 lb. | 14 1/4″ x 40″ | 90 | 4″ |
Types of Presidential Shingles
Presidential Shake TL from certainTeed
Presidential Shake TL shingles are a luxury option designed to replicate the appearance of cedar shakes while offering the performance of a high-quality composition roofing solution.
These shingles feature three layers of material, making them the industry’s thickest, toughest, and heaviest shingle.
Landmark Pro Shingles from CertainTeed
Landmark shingles are a popular option within the CertainTeed brand.
In this case, the Landmark Pro would be the most “presidential” shingle.
However, Certainteed is not marketing them as “presidential” shingles, leaving that qualification only for their Presidential shingles product portfolio
They provide a durable, weather-resistant solution that pairs the impressive performance of asphalt with the curb appeal of hand-split cedar shake roofing.
With a variety of colors and styles available, Landmark shingles can enhance the beauty and functionality of your home’s exterior.
Architectural Shingles
Architectural shingles, also known as dimensional or laminated shingles, offer a multi-layered look that adds depth and dimension to your roof.
These shingles feature a heavier construction than standard 3-tab shingles, resulting in increased durability and a longer lifespan.
3-Tab Shingles
3-tab shingles are the most basic and affordable type of asphalt shingle.
I do not consider them “presidential” shingles, however some contractors include them and an insurance adjuster described them in a report as a “presidential shingle installation in condition” so there you go.
They are made from a single layer of material and feature a flat, uniform appearance.
While 3-tab shingles may not offer the same visual appeal or durability as other options, they can be a budget-friendly choice for homeowners seeking a simple, functional roofing solution.
Here is a comparison table for the different types of presidential shingles:
Shingle Type | Material Layers | Weight/Square | Dimensions | Shingles/Square | Weather Exposure |
---|---|---|---|---|---|
Presidential Shake TL | 3 | 475 lb | 14 1/4″ x 40″ | 90 | 4″ |

CertainTeed Landmark Pro Shingles Price Per Square
Landmark Pro is actually considered a presidential shingle.
However, CertainTeed wants to reserve that denomination only for their Presidential product line.
But I have to include them in the analysis of presidential shingles nevertheless.
CertainTeed Landmark Pro shingles price per square can be outlined like this
Shingle Type | Price per Square (Materials Only) | Price per Square (Installed) |
---|---|---|
Landmark Pro | $120 – $150 | $300 – $650 |
In comparison, let’s take a look at a table highlighting the prices of other CertainTeed shingle options:
Shingle Type | Price per Square (Materials Only) | Price per Square (Installed) |
---|---|---|
Landmark | $80 – $95 | $250 – $450 |
Landmark Premium | $130 – $180 | $350 – $700 |
Landmark Solaris | $170 – $225 | $450 – $850 |
As you can see, choosing CertainTeed Landmark Pro shingles represents a mid-range option in terms of price, offering a balance of affordability and performance.
CertainTeed Landmark vs Landmark Pro Price
Landmark Pro is a presidential shingle, obviously, and maybe standard Landmark too.
You may have heard a lot about CertainTeed Landmark and Landmark Pro shingles, but how do their prices compare?
CertainTeed Landmark shingles are considered the company’s entry-level product.
They are more affordable than their Landmark Pro counterparts. The cost per 100 square feet of coverage for Landmark shingles ranges from $80 to $95.
On the other hand, Landmark Pro shingles are priced slightly higher at $115 to $125 per 100 square feet.
Here’s a table comparing the prices of Landmark and Landmark Pro shingles:
Shingle Type | Price per 100 Sq. Ft. |
---|---|
Landmark | $80 – $95 |
Landmark Pro | $115 – $125 |
Now, you might wonder how these prices compare to other CertainTeed roofing products.
To give you a better idea, here’s an additional table comparing the prices of different CertainTeed shingle options:

Landmark (Standard) | $80 – $95 |
Landmark Pro | $115 – $125 |
Landmark Premium | $142 – $152 |
Grand Manor (Designer) | $209 – $232 |
If you are really going “presidential” and do not mind spending more in exchange of quality, then your choice is Landmark Pro and Grand Manor, even when CertainTeed themselves do not call them “presidential”.
Landmark Shingles Price Per Bundle
Let´s look at the Landmark shingles price per bundle.
On average, CertainTeed Landmark shingles cost between $75 and $175 per square for just the shingles, depending on the specific line.
As a reminder, a square is equal to a 10 ft x 10 ft area or 100 square feet. Since roofing projects are typically priced by the square, you can easily calculate the price of Landmark shingles per bundle.
One bundle covers 33.3 square feet, so you can divide the cost per square by 3 to find the price per bundle.
Landmark Shingle Line | Price per Square | Price per Bundle |
---|---|---|
Landmark | $75 – $125 | $25 – $41.67 |
Landmark Pro | $125 – $175 | $41.67 – $58.33 |

Keep in mind that these prices are for shingles alone and do not include installation costs, which typically range from $3 to $4.50 per square foot for CertainTeed Landmark shingles.
CertainTeed Grand Manor Price per Bundle
CertainTeed Grand Manor shingles are not marketed as “presidential” by CertainTeed, for product positioning reasons maybe, because they have a Presidential shingle.
However, Grand Manor is a high-quality option for those looking to give their home a luxurious, elegant appearance. These shingles are designed to replicate the look of slate (just check their colonial slate varuant) and boast a heavy weight and multi-layered structure for added durability.
Let´s study a bit more then the CertainTeed Grand Manor price per bundle.
However, you can generally expect to find prices for these shingles in the ballpark of $62 – $76 per 100 square feet 1.
It is important to note that these prices are for materials only and do not include the cost of professional roof installation.

Key Features and Benefits Of Presidential Shingles
Durability and Materials
These shingles are made with a blend of asphalts and polymers, ensuring a tough and long-lasting product.
The fiberglass base construction adds to the overall strength and durability of these shingles.
Just look at the specifications of the CertainTeed Presidential Shake shingles or Landmark Pro to see how durable they can be.
Fire and Wind Resistance
Presidential shingles are designed to withstand both fire and wind. They have a Class A fire rating – the highest rating available for residential roofing materials.
Additionally, and specifically for CertainTeed products, the CertaSeal adhesive used in their manufacturing ensures the shingles remain secure on the roof, protecting against wind uplift and shingle blow off.
That is the adhesive, something different from the underlayment.
Impact and Moisture Resistance
These shingles are designed with impact and moisture resistance in mind.
With a focus on preventing moisture infiltration, Presidential shingles help keep your roof dry and damage-free.
Moreover, their thick construction provides an extra layer of protection against impacts such as hail or debris.
More resistant than this, you have to go to the CertainTeed Northgate line. But Northgate is not a presidential shingle.
Innovative Roofing Technologies
Presidential Shake shingles feature innovative roofing technologies, including the SureStart™ protection, in the case of CertainTeed, the StreakFighter® warranty, and the wind-resistance warranty. SureStart™ provides added coverage during the critical early years of your roof’s life, while the StreakFighter® warranty guards against unsightly streaks caused by airborne algae.
The wind-resistance warranty ensures that your roof will withstand high winds without damage.

Comparing Presidential Shingles In Different Brands
In this section, we will compare Presidential shingles in different popular brands such as GAF, IKO, Malarkey, CertainTeed, and Owens Corning.
I do not include Atlas and DaVinci, because I do not have experience working with their presidential shingles.
GAF
GAF is a well-known roofing manufacturer that offers a variety of shingle lines, including their luxury shingles like the GAF Grand Sequoia.
These shingles provide exceptional durability and an attractive appearance.
They are slightly heavier than their Presidential shingles and have a comparable price range.
IKO
IKO’s luxury shingles, such as the IKO Armourshake, are designed to imitate the look of high-end wood shakes.
With added weather resistance and a Class A fire rating, IKO shingles are a great choice for those seeking a premium roofing material.
Their pricing is generally in the same range as presidential shingles in other branda.
Malarkey
Malarkey offers high-quality roofing materials, including their luxury shingles like the Malarkey Windsor line.
Malarkey shingles may have a slightly higher cost per square than Presidential shingles, but they also have an extended warranty period.
I have not worked with them, so I do not know if the higher price range is justified by the quality.
Owens Corning
Owens Corning’s luxury shingles, such as the Owens Corning Woodcrest, are made with a durable fiberglass core and a high-quality asphalt surface.
They offer excellent protection and aesthetic appeal, while also being comparable in price to CertainTeed Presidential shingles.
Below is a table comparing the key features and prices of these luxury shingle brands.
